Presenting Ella Freire’s Stunning Art
Ella is delighted to be exhibiting her new collection of classic car prints at the prestigious EFG Art Fair. This first collection of 6 prints, which are framed in flame polished acrylic, include the Aston Martin DB5 and the 1964 Porsche 911. She is currently working on producing a print of the Mercedes 300SL Gullwing to bring to Salon Privé.
Ella Freire’s new collection of prints have been inspired by her love of classic cars, and of stories of her Grandfather racing Bugatti’s round Brooklands in the 1930’s. Based at Wimbledon Art Studios, Ella has been screen-printing limited edition prints for the last 4 years. Her work covers an eclectic mix of vintage and retro images, with a strong graphic appeal.
Earlier this year Ella concentrated on producing a high-end collection of classic car prints for her show in May 2014. This has given her the opportunity to try out new and exciting printing processes and has led her to create stunning images of beautifully designed and engineered cars.
To create these prints Ella photographs each car. This photograph is then separated in to layers. These are then built back up by mixing tone and shade to create a 3D effect. The process varies for each piece, depending on the shape and colour of the original car.
From the very outset Ella wanted to achieve a ‘highlight’ accent for the eye catching details of each vehicle. She has experimented with different inks and substrates, gloss and matt varnishes. The process is flexible and can be adjusted for each design and print.
Each piece is designed to look as if it’s floating off the wall when displayed. Ella achieves this effect by using acid free art paper, which is then framed within a 10mm thick flame polished acrylic sheet.
Ella recently had the pleasure of meeting Jeremy Levison, the new owner of the Aston Martin DBS, the iconic car made famous by Roger Moore who drove it in the 1970’s series the Persuaders. She has now been given the wonderful opportunity of creating a unique print, for Jeremy, of this stylish and historic car.
Ella has been invited by Porsche Club GB to exhibit later on this year and her prints will also be at the Affordable Art Fair at Battersea in October.
