Theon Design Unveils Striking 421bhp Carbon-Bodied Porsche 911 Commission
Oxfordshire-based Theon Design reveals its latest bespoke Porsche 911 (964) commission, combining a 421bhp naturally aspirated flat-six, lightweight carbon-fibre construction and a highly personalised specification developed in close collaboration with its owner.
Theon Design has unveiled its latest bespoke Porsche 911 commission – a fully re-engineered, carbon-bodied 964 coupe that showcases the company’s signature blend of craftsmanship, engineering excellence and client-led personalisation.
Built around a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six producing 421bhp and 324lb ft of torque, the latest commission pairs exceptional performance with analogue driving engagement. Weighing just 1,146kg, the car delivers a power-to-weight ratio exceeding that of the current Porsche 992.2 GT3.
Developed in close collaboration with its owner, every aspect of the vehicle’s specification, dynamic character and driving experience has been tailored to individual requirements.
A Study in Contrast
Finished in Crayon Grey with distinctive Lizard Green accents, the latest Theon commission explores contrast through restraint rather than excess.
The full carbon-fibre body is complemented by smoked front and rear light lenses, while brushed Eclipse exterior brightwork and a matching Turbonite Porsche bonnet crest introduce a contemporary aesthetic. Anthracite and Black 17-inch wheels sit over Lizard Green RS brake calipers, creating a deliberate visual focal point within the otherwise understated colour palette.
As with every Theon commission, steel doors have been retained to preserve the familiar tactility and character of the original air-cooled Porsche 911.
Performance Through Precision
At the heart of the car is a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six managed by a MoTeC ECU and PDM system. Carbon-fibre tinware and carbon-infused intake trumpets contribute to both performance and weight reduction.
A drive-by-wire throttle system offers selectable driving modes ranging from Town through to Race, alongside a dedicated ‘Raucous’ setting that unlocks full power, deploys the rear spoiler and amplifies the exhaust soundtrack.
Power is delivered through a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel-drive layout, supported by TracTive semi-active suspension adjustable across five settings and a front axle lift system.
Each suspension, steering and powertrain calibration is developed specifically for the client, ensuring every Theon commission delivers a uniquely tailored driving experience.
Craftsmanship Without Compromise
The interior continues the exterior’s carefully considered design language, blending carbon-fibre architecture with premium materials and bespoke detailing.
Hand-trimmed Liquorice leather covers the carbon-fibre panels, complemented by subtle Lizard Green stitching throughout the cabin. Recaro RS seats, bespoke aluminium footboards and precision-machined door handles, air vents and dashboard inserts further enhance the sense of craftsmanship.
Custom instrument gauges feature colour-matched Crayon Grey and Lizard Green detailing, reinforcing the cohesion of the overall design.
Technology remains discreetly integrated, with an original Becker Mexico head unit paired with a Hertz amplifier and six Focal speakers, while a carbon-fibre centre console incorporates wireless charging and a concealed phone extension.
Built Around the Owner
Each Theon commission requires approximately 6,000 hours of development and craftsmanship, with owners working closely alongside the Oxfordshire-based team from initial concept through to final calibration and delivery.
Built in the heart of the UK’s Motorsport Valley, every Theon combines traditional coachbuilding techniques with technologies and suppliers more commonly associated with Formula One and the aerospace industries.
Production remains deliberately limited, with only six clients worldwide scheduled to receive a new Theon commission during 2026.
“Every Theon commission reflects the person it’s built for, and this car is a particularly good example of that.
While the air-cooled 911 remains at its core, the brief pushed us towards something more contemporary in its appearance, materials and character.
The Crayon Grey and Lizard Green palette, the smoked lighting and the more technical surface finishes give the car a very modern presence, but without losing the restraint and simplicity that make the original 911 so enduring.
The best Theon commissions don’t look backwards or forwards. They feel timeless.”
